Kevin Luthardt is very active in using his work to teach and inspire
students of all ages. He has given presentations and workshops at
over 250 schools, libraries, and conferences.
In
his general interactive school and library programs, Kevin takes
the students through the process of creating a picture book from
the basic idea to the finished product. The students will get an
up close look at sketches, drawings, and finished illustrations
from his books; and even artwork he created as a child! Kevin will
explain what publishers do and how a book gets published. Students
will learn the virtues of hard work, practice, and persistence to
achieve their goals. They will also learn drawing and illustration
skills as they do their own step-by-step drawings with Kevin! This
program can be expanded into longer storyboard workshop formats
and multiple visit programs.
Kevin’s
program can be adapted to address teachers, writers, artists, and
other adults interested in the process of creating children’s
books. Topics that can be discussed: getting published and the publishing
process; creating art, murals, and illustrations; using his picture
books and artwork in the classroom; creating storyboards to help
the writing, illustrating, and reading process; and more!
